Writing my way toward the work

Inner Studio Journal — On Catching What the Paint Says

I paint to feel my way through things.

Writing is how I find out what I actually felt.

The Paint Speaks First

Marks come before meaning.

I layer. I cover. I work on a few surfaces at once and let one answer the other.

Somewhere in there, something true shows up.

Usually I can't name it yet.

Here's a real studio moment.

My intuitive approach never starts with a plan.

It often feels like random madness. No connection. No coherence.

And just when my inner critic starts to speak — a link appears.

Take these two pieces. Different colour palette. Different technique. Each one belongs to a different pair.

When I stepped back for a broader look, I noticed something: their compositions were nearly identical.

Do you see it?

The Words Come After

That's what this blog is.

A place to catch what the paint says.

What You'll Find Here

  • The process, mess included

  • Questions I'm still asking

  • Work that's half-formed

  • Flowers, and why they keep showing up

What I'm not promising

  • A schedule

  • Answers

  • Perfect anything

a show, a year from now

I'm building toward something.

I'd rather you watch it grow than only see it bloom.

So, Come Along

Sit beside me in the studio while I figure it out.

What's making sense of right now?

Don't measure my process against other's step-by-step method. When I embrace my messy middle, trust in my heart and hands — my intuition always finds its way through.
